NAWAS issued a Tsunami warning for the coastal areas of British Columbia and Alaska from the North Tip of Vancouver island British Columbia to Cape Decision Alaska/located 85 miles SE of Sitka. The message was "information status only" for coastal areas of Alaska from Cape Decision Alaska to Attu Alaska. No warning is in effect for our area

There has been a 7.7 magnitude earthquake 390 miles SE of Juneau, Alaska. The earthquake has NOT created a Tsunami Advisory/Warning for the area of Unalaska / Dutch Harbor at this time.
Welfare Check

Out of town parents requested a welfare check on their 21 year old son whom they have not heard from in over two weeks. Officers contacted the son's employer who relayed the information. It was determined the son had lost his cell phone and would make arrangements to purchase another so he could call his parents. Information passed on to the concerned parents.

Officers received a call from an individual who reported being verbally threatened by another. Officers responded and contacted the complainant and suspect. Investigation determined the suspect had been sleeping in the abandoned cabins on Agnes Beach. The suspect claimed to have obtained permission from the owner. Under investigation.

EMS personnel responded to Safeway regarding an unresponsive man in the parking lot. The inebriate, as he was so determined once he awoke, declined any medical assistance.

Caller reported a driver had failed to yield at an intersection. An officer contacted the suspect driver and issued a warning.

A disabled pickup was abandoned in such a way as to block access to an electrical substation. The vehicle owner was contacted and advised to move his truck as soon as possible.

James A. Mavromatis, 38 yoa, was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender. Mavromatis was in court being arraigned on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest.

Clinic staff asked officers to check on a man who had contacted a physician regarding a bad case of hiccups. Officers did so, and learned that the patient's hiccups had magically disappeared after eating a piece of bread as ordered by the doctor.

Officer advised some people on the beach to reduce the size of their bonfire, as it was considerably bigger than was necessary or safe.

Officer contacted a drunk who had chosen a sidewalk as his bed of choice for the night, and advised him he was too intoxicated to return to any bars or liquor stores this night.
