Call for Interest – Aleutian Islands Waterways Safety Committee

Managing Board Vacancy

On behalf of the Aleutian Islands Waterways Safety Committee Managing Board of Directors, we
are soliciting interest to fill the current Managing Board vacancy by joining our team of Directors and
contributing their valuable ideas and expertise to drive the committee’s mission forward.
The AIWSC Managing Board plays multiple roles that are fundamental to the Waterways Safety
Committee, including ensuring eLective governance and overseeing budgeting and resource
allocation. We are currently seeking a new member to strengthen our leadership team and enhance
the impact of our work in the Aleutian Islands region. In addition to being over 18 years of age and a
resident of the State of Alaska, all Directors share the following responsibilities and duties:
a. Establish and annually review the corporation’s operation plan, and services provided by
the corporation;
b. Establish, review, and approve an annual corporate budget and annual financial report;
c. Establish, review, evaluate, and modify governing policies and procedures periodically, as
appropriate;
d. Appoint primary voting members and alternates from a list of qualified applicants to the
Waterways Safety Committee; and
e. Review and approve final recommendations for the Aleutian Islands Waterways Safety Plan.
Directors are elected for a term of three (3) years and expected to attend up to four (4) regular
meetings of the Board annually. We prefer applicants with personal or professional ties to the
Aleutian Islands region.
