CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT: The Unalaska City Council will consider a new local mandate to protect the public health at their meeting tonight at 6pm. The community is encouraged to listen in on local KUCB TV Channel 8 or Radio Station 89.7; or to call into the meeting to provide testimony on agenda items (888.251.2909, access code 5646150). Comments and questions can also be emailed to the City Clerk no later than 5pm today mveeder@ci.unalaska.ak.us) to be read into the record at the meeting.

When the public health emergency first began, Council began holding meetings via telephone conference. Because of the difficulty and complications presented using telephone conferencing, it was determined to include on the agenda only those items that were necessary for Council to address. Because of these concerns, we haven’t included “Community Input and Announcements” on the agenda, which is a time for the community to provide information to council regarding issues not listed on the agenda. However, we recognize the value of providing opportunities for the community to speak to Council about issues not on the agenda, so this evening we will include opportunities for community input and announcements.
