Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Run/Walk
Saturday, March 08 2025, 11 a.m.

Location: Kelty Field

Did you know that Alaska Native people have the highest incidence and mortality rate of
Colorectal Cancer in the world? The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association is hosting a run/
walk on Saturday, March 8 2025 in honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The event
will start at 11:00 am at Kelty Field. We will also have shirts for participants, snacks, and an
inflatable colon. We look forward to seeing you!

Join us on March 8th, 2025, to raise awareness and take a step towards better health! Following the walk, light refreshments will be provided, and all participants will receive a commemorative shirt.
Colon cancer screening is recommended for Alaska Native people ages 40 and older, and for all adults 45 and older. Alaska Native people are at a higher risk of developing colon cancer, making early detection crucial.
If you’re due for screening, we encourage you to pick up a FIT test at the event. It’s easy to complete at home, and you can drop it off at the Oonalaska Wellness Center. APIA clinic staff will be on hand to answer any questions and help with FIT test pick-ups.
Please don’t wait—get screened and take care of your colon health! 💙
