Representatives with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Alaska District
will discuss the regulatory program at an informational open house on Tuesday, June 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Unalaska Public Library, 64 Eleanor Drive, Unalaska.

Corps personnel will be available to answer questions regarding proposed work, fill or structures in waters of the U.S.

For those unable to attend the open house or who would like to schedule a site visit, the Corps representatives will be in Unalaska through June 29.
The regulatory program evaluates permit applications for construction activities in waters of the U.S., to include most wetlands, lakes, streams, and all tidal waters. It is committed to maintaining and restoring the nation's aquatic resources, while allowing reasonable development through fair, flexible and balanced permit decisions.

Under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, a permit is required for work or structures in, over or under navigable waters of the United States. Under Section 404 of the
Clean Water Act, a permit is required for the discharge of dredged or fill material into waters of the United States.
