McLees Lake - 500 yard closure
Wednesday, July 01 2020 - Thursday, July 09 2020

As of June 29, the escapement at the McLees Lake weir is 1,419 which is well below the lower escapement goal of 10,000 salmon. To protect salmon returning to McLees lake and in order to meet the minimum escapement goal, from July 1 through July 9, salmon may not be taken within 500 yards of the outlet stream terminus to McLees Lake. McLees Lake and its tributaries will remain closed as usual.

Sockeye salmon escapement into the McLees Lake system will continue to be monitored daily and once the escapement goal is met, areas open to subsistence salmon fishing may be adjusted based on changes in the run strength. If escapement is still below 10,000 by July 9, ADF&G may issue an announcement to extend the date of the 500 yard closure.
