What was cooked in these pots?

As part of her PhD project at the University in Groningen (the Netherlands) Marjolein Admiraal is researching the function of Arctic containers such as ancient stone bowls on the Aleutian Islands and ceramic vessels on the Alaska Peninsula and Kodiak Island. By using a technique called Organic Residue Analysis she will attempt to reconstruct function by determining the previous contents of the vessels.
