MOTA's 8th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza

The Museum of the Aleutians 8th Chocolate Extravaganza on February 14 was attended by 90 visitors. Over 30 local chefs volunteered and prepared chocolate dishes and desserts from Chocolate Chili to Chocolate Mousse. Besides the sweet festivities, guests of this annual event were able to walk through the newly designed permanent exhibit, and were treated to live bluegrass music in the Alaska’s Wild West exhibition room. (Click through to read more.)


Unalaska Raiders at the Ninilchik Invitational

On Tuesday, February 3rd, the Unalaska Raider Basketball teams flew to Anchorage and drove four hours down to Ninilchik to compete in the Ninilchik Invitational. There were six boys and girls teams who competed at the tournament. For the boys, the competitors were the Tok Wolverines, Kalskag Grizzlies, King Cove T-Jacks, Soldotna Stars JV, Ninilchik Wolverines, and the Unalaska Raiders. For the girls, the competitors were the Tok Wolverines, Kalskag Grizzlies, Sand Point Eagles, Soldotna Stars JV, Ninilchik Wolverines, and the Unalaska Lady Raiders. (Click through to read more.)

Student of the Week for January 26 - 30, 2015

The High School Department selected Chellsea Rider as Student of the Week for the following reasons:

"Chellsea Rider has made incredible strides this year in American Literature. She has really impressed me with her desire to improve on past acadmic performance by replacing ineffective study habits with far more effective study habits-and demonstrating throughout all of this school year that she has the self-discipline to really stick with her new and improved habits of mind. Caller reported that the tracks in the snow indicated an erratic driver. Officers were unable to follow the snow tracks to a suspect vehicle due to the plethora of other snow tracks intermingled throughout the roadway.

Officers initiated a cell search after contraband was discovered.
