Battle of the Books Winners

Four teams will represent the Unalaska City School District at the upcoming State Battle of the Books.

On January 28, 2015, five teams of 3rd and 4th graders competed in the district battle at Eagle’s View Elementary. Sierra Anderson, Marina Jones, Stacey Carlos and Lilee Alford emerged victorious after 16 rounds of questions. Coached by 3rd grade teacher Sharon O'Malley, these students will compete against other district winners from around the state on February 18.

The 5th/6th Grade Department selected Trang as Student of the Week for the following reasons:

"Trang is a very hard working young lady who is respected by her peers and teachers. Trang goes out of her way to be polite to all around her. She works hard to understand new concepts and skills in all subjects and is very thoughtful with her responses. (Click through to read more.)

Found Property
Friday 30 December 2016, 10:32 a.m.
Caller reported a found wallet. Dispatch contacted the wallets owner and arranged a meeting between the two parties so that the wallet could be returned.
Domestic Disturbance
Sunday 25 December 2016, 12:44 a.m.
911 call received in which the caller did not respond but arguing could be heard in the background. A trace of the call was initiated and officers responded to the residence. Officers discovered that a couple had been involved in a tense argument, but no threats of violence or actual violence had occurred.
Environmental
Wednesday 28 December 2016, 3:54 p.m.
Caller reported that eagles were making a mess of some trash that had been left in the back of a pickup truck. The owner of the truck was advised.

Road’s Chief advised of icy road conditions.
